Rest In Piece, Zeena & Gixxer

I lost my two female adults early this morning. They were too injured and lost too much blood to be anesthetized, and without anesthesia they could have injured those working on them, so they were euthanized.

It was not due to irresponsible ownership, dog fighting, or negligence of any form. I do not want to go into details, the dynamics are too complex, not to mention personal. Kane, nor the puppies, were injured or traumatized.

For those that knew my dogs personally, let us remember them for the great dogs they truly were.

In Zeena's youth, she won the Butte County UKC American Pit Bull Terrier Club conformation. I rescued her after the original owners abandoned her with a backyard breeder. During her time with my pack, all the training and hard work I put into her paid off. A vet said she was healthy enough to produce again. She was happier than ever, no longer chased cats, and began to get along with other dogs again. I saw potential in her no one else could and I brought it out to change her life for the better. She will be dearly missed.

Gixxer, was Kane and Zeena's daughter from the last litter. She was definitely a 'Daddy's Girl'. I originally kept her because she was the most aggressive in that litter, and I did not want to put that liability elsewhere. Her life, as did Zeena's, changed for the better through socialization with children, animals, dogs and people. I will deeply miss my 'Babygirl'. She had potential to help change a lot of dogs' lives.

Through my leadership I made it possible for these dogs to live their lives as dogs should. I hope that all of you out there with dogs continue to strive to be the pack leader in your homes.
